This document summarises the changes made to the latest version in the W17 release tree of the WHT Telescope Control System, W17-5-1, to produce the release tree W18.

4. Deliverables and Installation

• The CMS classes necessary to build TCS versions in the W18 release tree are defined in Section 8, they are also defined in the version files in [WHT_LOGIN.VERSION].
• CMS libraries containing the source code for the TCS, the PLOT and CAMTEST utilities, and the build procedures are held on LPAS3; the root directory for the CMS libraries is defined by the logical name SOURCE_DIR.

5. Reasons for release

W18-0-0

New features

• The LOG command has changed fundamentally. The optional parameter period has been replaced by the parameter duration and the encoders are now logged every TCS cycle (currently 20Hz). The duration parameter is required for all types of log (encoder, autoguider or TV), if it is omitted the user is prompted and offered a default time of 15 minutes; the permitted range of duration is 1 - 120 minutes. The log will be closed after the specified time has elapsed; the logging time can be increased by re-issuing the LOG command with a longer duration. The log can be stopped early by the command LOG log-type OFF
• The dome position and position error are recorded in the encoder log.
• The rotator glitch of 400 arcsecs at azimuth reversal has been fixed by removing the incorrect differential refraction correction.
• The focus-temperature relationship at Prime has been re-determined.

• FR 14527, 15424 : rotator jumps by 400 arcsec when azimuth reverses (par ang 90 & 270)

• FR 13668 : cancelling DRAMA command to TCS with CTRL-C can stop the telescope
• FR 13882 : AGVIEW does not work at WHT Prime
• FR 14069 : ISIS - possible inaccuracy in rotator offset in TCS code
• FR 14386 : Prime - tracking oscillations not corrected by autoguider
• FR 14850 : INTEGRAL rotator zeroset problem
• FR 14906 : INTEGRAL rotator time-to-limits is inaccurate
