1. Summary

This document summarises the changes made to I18-0-1, the latest version in the I18 release tree of the INT Telescope Control System, to produce the release tree I19.

4. Deliverables and Installation

• The CMS classes necessary to build TCS versions in the I19 release tree are defined in Section 8, they are also defined in the version files in [INT_LOGIN.VERSION].
• CMS libraries containing the source code for the TCS, the PLOT and CAMTEST utilities, and the build procedures are held on LPAS3; the root directory for the CMS libraries is defined by the logical name SOURCE_DIR.
• The release notes document for the I19 release tree (this document) is stored in ~docs/tcs/intrel/tcs-intrel-19/tcs-intrel-19.html
• The Latex source for the INT User Manual is stored in ~mpf/docs/tcs/int_manual/. Note that this file needs updating. The Postscript version is in www.ing.iac.es/Astronomy/observing/manuals/ps/tcs/int.ps

5. Reasons for release

I19-0-0

New features

• The LOG command has changed fundamentally. The optional parameter period has been replaced by the parameter duration and the encoders are now logged every TCS cycle (currently 20Hz). The duration parameter is required for all types of log (encoder, autoguider or TV), if it is omitted the user is prompted and offered a default time of 15 minutes; the permitted range of duration is 1 - 120 minutes. The log will be closed after the specified time has elapsed; the logging time can be increased by re-issuing the LOG command with a longer duration. The log can be stopped early by the command LOG log-type OFF
• The dome position and position error are recorded in the encoder log.

Defects fixed

• FR 12787 : Longitude is written with the correct (negative) sign in the FITS headers
• FR 14637, 15135 : TELD crashed due to memory leak
• FR 15127 : default focus for WFC changed to 43.95

• Implements a fast pull-in of the guide star after every AUTO ON or AUTO RESUME command
