This procedure will not work on a shadowed disk.
Shutdown the Alpha and
boot from the OpenVMS CD :
>>> boot -flags 0,0 dka400
Choose option 7. Execute DCL commands and
procedures
This will give a $$$ prompt.
The following example assumes that DKA200 is the disk to be backed up and disk DKA300 will contain a copy of DKA200.
Choose option 8 (Shut down) when done.
Boot from VMS 7.3-2 disk, watch the startup messages for any errors.

The following example assumes that DKA200 is the disk to be backed up and the tape drive is MKA500.
Load a DDS-3 DAT tape, then initialise and mount the tape to enable compression :
Start the backup :
Choose option 8 (Shut down) when done.
Boot from VMS 7.3-2 disk, watch the startup messages for any errors.
