• ING operates 3 telescopes in the Canary Islands

• no need for us to write low level device drivers
• SNL
• Reliability: never experienced one single crash

• Flexibility on the client side
• Dm ok for engineering displays
• Need to integrate DRAMA layer
• User wants to script (requirement)
• Displays used to show status only
• Some logic got to be outside the IOC
• User wants to play with the system, we need to provide a safe environment
• Sequencing tool now being investigated: Tcl / Python based
