Display changeover
Purpose
This document describes how to change the WHT ICS Display computer
to the spare one in the event of a failure.
Intended Audience
This document is intended to be used by CFG and all DEs.
Scope
This document describes how to do a changeover between the primary
and
spare computers, no the installation of the computers nor the ICS
system itself.
Overview
The WHT ICS system is
running on taurus but the display of that part of the observing system
is done on the PCs whticsdisplay1 and whtdisplay2. Usually
whticsdisaplay1 is used to display the ICS but in the case this PC dies
or is not available for some reason whticsdisplay2 can be used instead.
Follow the below steps to change to whticsdisplay2
- Find the Keyboard/Mouse switch placed just behind the ICS
displays.

- On the KVM switch there is a red light indicating the active
computer. There is also a button marked Select that is used two switch to
the inactive computer. Press it.

- The red light of the inactive computer should now be on on the
KVM switch. Go to the back of the control desk and find the
whticsdisplay computers.

- The displays cables should now be moved from the dead computer to
the spare one. Put the cables exactly
in the same position they are.

Note that the process described here is to switch from whticsdisplay1
to whticsdisplay2. The opposite change, from whticsdisplay2 to
whticsdisplay1 should be the same.
Always contact CFG if this change is
done for same reason.
