RESILENT LINKS: GB1INT failure recovery

This is the main backbone switch installed at the INT. Is located at the INT clip center, communications rack. This device connects the main switches at the INT, gives connectivity to the WHT and to the IAC/Internet trough the WHT.

If this device fails, major problems will occur in the INT network, including all the services like Internet access, access to the SLO, Home accounts, WWW, FTP, remote access, DNS to external sites, etc. The observing system will also stop working since the connectivity between observing system (lpas2) and DAS computers with the ICS in the control room will be broken.

Before following the next steps is a good idea to power cycle gb1int to see if that fixes the problem.

The spare for this device is gb2int, on top of it, and the procedure to use it instead of gb1int is as follows:

  1. Switch off gb1int.

  2. Move front UTP cables from gb1int to gb2int as described in this table:

After this is done, it takes a few minutes for the network to come back again.
