STP Configuration
To view a more extensive explanation of the Spanning Tree Protocol, please refer to page 39 of the 3Com Switch 4900 reference manual. All the configurations for the network devices within the ING where done using their web interface, and basically is as easy as activate the STP. See the table below for details on how to do it depending on the model of switch.

Although all the configurations of STP in the network devices are the same, there are four devices where this configurations differ a bit. There is a field called Bridge Identifier (page 43) that defines which device is the central reference point for the STP system. The lower this value is, the better for that device to become the BI. Here are the settings.

This establishes the order to become the central reference point for the STP. In the case of these four devices, to the actions defined in the configurations table set 'Bridge Priority' to the correct value.
