Adding an item to wish list for purchase in 1996/1997
If you want to see a facility added (hardware or software) then please
mail helpdesk with
a description of what it is eg DAT drive, 9GB SCSI disk drive.
It does not have to be a specific device. You could just express a need
such as "a colour scanner easily accessible at Sea-level".
how it would be used This will be something very simple like
"connected to my PC" or "in the user area on 6th floor".
Or it may be "for monthly backups" or "for confidential
printing" Keep it short.
very important - a case which justifies the purchase of the
item. This will often be that it allows you (and/or your group) to
work more efficiently. It may be to enable you to take on new tasks or
to be prepared for a task which will begin to be necessary in the next
year. Whereever possible you should propose a measure which will be used
to evaluate the benefit to be obtained. For example you could say that
to do image reduction on current machine X takes 20 minutes but on Y it
takes only 5 minutes and ask for another machine type Y. This can be long
- but succinct is best
