Two members of the astronomy group, that is Peter Sorensen and me, have an iomega zip drive at home, with the main reason to transfer observational data from work to home. One zip drive diskette holds 100Mb data, so the diskettes provide an ideal medium to transfer large amounts of data.
I am inquiring if it is possible to obtain a SCSI iomega zip drive and install it on one of the linux/dos PC's on the 5th floor, so that we do not have to bring our own drives and plug them into our own or random computers. With a drive at the fifth floor, we only have to bring the diskettes from work to home. Such a drive is supported by both linux and dos, installation is easy.
Peter told me that the zip drive can be bought here in Santa Cruz for about 30,000 pesetas. Do you think there is money available to purchase a zip drive for the astronomy group?

John
