Gary,

The move from the Sparc5 to the sparc10 last night went OK. All systems down here are working OK with the new setup. There was a technical hitch that I can't get the Sparc10 to add new devices but I worked round this, which took some time, and got the move completed. ( I'll look into the addition of devices later ).

One thing that did strike me is that we now have 5 SCSI devices on the same SBUS card. This is bound to slow down disk access considerably. Could your budget stretch to an SBUS card? There are two versions of these for a Sparc10:

  1. Fast Wide SCSI ( SWIFT) with 10/100 BaseT Ethernet card for 700 pounds
  2. narrow SCSI for 300 pounds
