The wireless connections at the ING run under a security system based on WEP 128bit encryption and MAC addresses registration. There are two wireless networks at the ING providing different possibilities. The table below shows which are the possible combinations.
| Network (SSID) |
Encryption |
MAC Registration |
Contact person |
Description |
| ingint |
WEP 128 bit |
needed |
luis@ing.iac.es |
Wireless network for ING staff
only. Will provide full access to ING computers as well as the Intranet
(except port 25 and 465) |
| ingext |
WEP 128 bit |
recommended |
luis@ing.iac.es
jma@ing.iac.es |
Wireless network for visitors.
ING staff can also use it. Will provide full access to the Internet
(except ports 25 and 465) and restricted access to ING computers, for
example it
will be possible to see the Intranet part of the Web server but not
mount NFS partitions. |
MACs registration is a must for a ING staff user.
In the case of a visitor, the network ingext can be accessed without
registration but having the correct password. Also if a visitor, the
registration guarantees also access to the Ethernet network that if not
will not be visible.
Ports 25 (smtp) and 465 (smtps) are blocked to
avoid Spam generation from within the ING.
