General Description


COMMON KEYWORD DESCRIPTION
Assigned Date   The date the fault was assigned to someone
Assigned to Q The person to whom the fault has been assigned.
Date Occurred Q,I The date the fault occurred.
Date reported Q,I The date the fault was reported.
Defect # Q,I A unique identifier for each reported defect. This number is assigned automatically and cannot be changed.
Description   A full description of the fault. There is no limit to the number of lines this can cover.
Duty Tech. Q The duty tech. when the fault happened
Example Files   This is a list of files which supposedly illustrate the problem. The format for the name is Tnnn where T is the first letter of the name and nnn is the run number (without leading zeros).
Fault type Q A catagory for each fault. This defines what extra fields are available for extra information
Instrument Q The instrument affected by the fault or the instrument that was mounted on the telescope when the fault occurred. This can have more than one value.
Keywords Q A list of keywords to search for in the fault description. Entering the word 'coffee' here will bring up all faults with the word 'coffee' in the fault description.
Observer Q Observer on the telescope when the fault happened
Originator Q The person who originally reported the fault
Priority Q The priority of the problem. This is a numerical value from 1 to 5 where 1 is the most urgent.
Repair Time(days)   The estimated number of work days to fix the problem.
Severity Q A ranking of the severity of the fault. These can be 'critical' (the worst), 'severe' or 'moderate' (the least).
Status Q The status of the fault. This can assume the following values:
New
Brand new -- no one has touched it since it was first entered
Pending
Still new, but it has been assigned a fault type.
In Hand
Someone is looking into the problem.
Not Reproducible
Fault can't be reproduced.
Observation
Not really a fault, but just an observation.
Enhancement
A request for an enhancement
Resolved
The fault has been resolved, but not released (closed).
Released
The fault has been resolved and closed.
Supp. Astr. Q The support astronomer when the fault happened
System Q The system on the telescope that is affected by the fault.
Telescope Q The telescope affected by the fault. This can have more than one value.
Tel. Op. Q The telescope operator when the fault happened.
Time lost Q The total time lost due to the fault.
Time Occurred Q The time the fault occurred.
Time reported Q The time the fault was reported.
Title   A brief one line title for the fault

The following table contains the remaining items the user will find in the description of an individual faults. These all refer to specific aspects of the fault as a function of its type. The fault type is given in the second column. None of these are queryable.
