Description: NOT is a modern, 2.56 m alt-azimuth telescope at Observatorio del Roque de los Muchachos, La Palma, Canary Islands, Spain.

NOT is operated jointly since 1989 by the Research Councils of Denmark, Finland, Norway, and Sweden, and the University of Iceland for a very wide range of research projects for Nordic and international astronomy. Its instrumentation includes the permanently mounted standby CCD camera StanCam, a 4Kx4K direct CCD mosaic camera MOSCA, the focal reducer instrument ALFOSC allowing a flexible choice of filter imaging and long-slit or échelle spectroscopy, and the high-resolution spectrographs SOFIN and FIES.

The infrared camera NOTCam provides high-resolution and wide-field imaging and long-slit spectroscopy in the wavelength region 1-2.2 microns.

Full support for visiting astronomers and a limited amount of service observations are provided by the on-site staff.
