| Description: | It is a 1.52 meter telescope optimized for the infrared with equatorial mount, a Cassegrain focus and F/13.8 in a Dall-Kirkham type configuration.
Its common-user instrumentation includes: (i) the infrared camera CAIN, a mosaic of 256 x 256 HgCdTe photoelectric elements (NICMOS technology), with sensibility in the 1 - 2.5 micron range; (ii) since June 2004 the new 1 - 5 micron infrared photometer FIN. The TCS has been used for a wide range of infrared observational programmes, from large-scale Galactic Centre mapping to stellar oscillations. A programme of continuous improvements is in progress. |
