However, almost all of the original data reduction requirements are now better provided by the Sun SPARC workstations and Linux PCs. There is considerable expense in maintaining the hardware and software associated with the User VAX Clusters, and the continuing system administrative support they require. Because these VAXs are no longer heavily in demand, it is intended to shut the User VAX Clusters down on 31st December 1996. They will be superseded for general use by the existing Sun Unix Clusters. >>>>> SERVICE APPLICATIONS FOR ING TELESCOPES <<<<< Dave Carter From February 1st 1996 service applications for ING telescopes will no longer be processed in RGO Cambridge.
