Availability of ING Newsletter No.4 ============================================================================== ING INSTRUMENTATION IN SEMESTER 2001B GENERAL INFORMATION Detailed information on ING instrumentation offered for the forthcoming semester can be found in the ING web pages at http://www.ing.iac.es/Astronomy/observing/instruments.html and guidelines for proposal submission can be found at http://www.ing.iac.es/Astronomy/observing/INGinfo_home.html Applicants are recommended to refer to these pages for the latest information. Proposals must be submitted on the current PATT2 form, version 02/2000, and should be emailed directly to ingpatt@ing.iac.es. Font sizes on the application form must not be reduced from the style-file defaults; if they are reduced the application will be disregarded. Applicants should be aware that occasionally highly rated proposals may not be awarded time due to scheduling constraints. In 2001B this will be particularly relevant to NAOMI and INTEGRAL programmes competing for access to GHRIL, and to programmes competing for INGRID at Cass and INGRID in GHRIL with NAOMI. NAOMI runs will be restricted to September-October and INTEGRAL runs to December-January. ING INSTRUMENTATION IN SEMESTER 2001B WHT - http://www.ing.iac.es/Astronomy/telescopes/wht/ --- Applicants are reminded that to encourage proposals for larger time allocations on the WHT, the PATT2 application form allows a 2-page scientific justification for WHT proposals of six or more nights. The following instrument/detector configurations are available: Instrument + Detector ISIS BLUE + EEV12 ISIS RED + TEK AUX-port/UBVRI + TEK UES + SITe1 or 2xEEV Mosaic PRIME + 2xEEV Mosaic AUTOFIB2/WYFFOS + TEK INTEGRAL/WYFFOS + TEK INGRID + 1kx1k HgCdTe (shared-risks basis) NAOMI/INGRID + 1kx1k HgCdTe (shared-risks basis) The AF2 small-fibres module is offered on a common-user (but shared-risks) basis semester in 2001B, subject to successful commissioning in July 2001A. The large-fibres module will be discontinued on successful commissioning of the small-fibres module. INGRID is offered on a common-user (but shared-risks) basis semester 2001B NAOMI/INGRID is offered on a common-user (but shared-risks) basis semester 2001B; backup programmes are not required, and observations will be carried out in service mode.
