IPCS

The IPCS--2 was developed at UCL, and is described in more detail in ?. The IPCS--2 users manual describes how the detector is controlled. The IPCS--2 is a complex instrument to operate, and observers should read the users guide before using it.

The IPCS--2 consists of an EMI image intensifier with S20 photocathode, coupled to a GEC CCD camera. Each photon event can be centroided to an accuracy of 1, 1/2, 1/4 or 1/8 of a CCD pixel. The largest possible detector format is 320r in X and 256r in Y, where r is the resolution factor (1, 2, 4 or 8). The pixel sizes with each of these resolution factors are summarised in Table 5.
