Examining and saving parameter settings

The SHOW command provides details of the current values of some internal parameters, and is dependent on the current mode. Several qualifiers enable access to more information:

• SHOW/INST displays the settings of the instrumental parameters listed below.
• SHOW/TELESCOPE details the telescope parameters.
• SHOW/MASK gives details of various mask parameters.
• SHOW/PLOTTER gives the plotter settings.
• SHOW/HEADER produces a formatted list of the FITS header items which are available for the current image. It may often be useful to use these to set the corresponding internal parameters.
• SHOW/ALL shows all the LEXT internal parameters.

Some internal variables can be saved for future use by the SAVESET command. By default these use a file called LEXT.SET. This file is written as a standard LEXT procedure file, and, hence, can be easily invoked to re-set the values of the internal variables. Being an ASCII file, it can also be easily edited outside LEXT. For standard setups it would be sensible to give a more specific name to this file.

The SET command can be used to set the value of internal parameters. Care should be taken to use the correct units when setting internal parameters.
