Internal parameters and header information

LEXT stores a variety of internal parameters. Some of these hold information about the instrumental/detector setup, whilst others control interface options, such as the current pen colour. Many of the LEXT commands make use of this information so it is important that it is set correctly. Some of the internal parameters may correspond to information contained in the FITS headers of the images. The user can ensure consistency by using the SHOW and SET commands which are detailed below.

Certain of these parameters are set by a specific command, such as the graphics device name, whilst others go through the SET command. The current mode can be set by either; thus:

LEXT - LIST 1 > IMAGE
is the same as writing:
LEXT - LIST 1 > SET MODE IMAGE
