BIN - On-chip binning

BIN can be used to bin the pixels when the chip is read out from individual pixels to groups of pixels up to a maximum size of 4 x 4 including combinations such as 2 x 1 , 3 x 2 pixels etc.

Parameters

There are two - the number of pixels in the x (or short) axis (1,2,3 or 4) and the number of pixels in the y (or long) axis (1,2,3 or 4) over which it is required to bin. Both will be prompted for.

Example

Adam:> BIN

To cancel on-chip binning use the UNBIN command, or alternatively the CHIP command can be used.

N.B. BIN cannot be used with parameters x=1 and y=1 or with the RCA chip or in conjunction with the WINDOW command
