The best way to check that the instrument is operating correctly is, after having loaded the FOS software, to take a dummy exposure using the GLANCE command. This checks virtually all status lines, clears the chip, checks that the shutter opens and closes, reads out the chip into a data file, and displays the image on the lexidata display. Keep a watch for any error messages. You can monitor the CCD telemetry by the command
ADAM>TELE - this only shows telemetry values which are outside tolerance.
To see all telemetry values use the command:
ADAM>TELE QUIET=FALSE
