Characteristics of the FOS CCD

Prior to May, 1988 an uncoated GEC P8603C CCD had been used in FOS. In May, 1988 a new blue sensitive GEC P8603C CCD was installed. This chip is extremely clean, with no defects at normal operating temperature, and an extremely good blue response. There is one hot column which appears at 20 above operating temperature.
