CHECKING OF CAMAC AFTER A BUFFER SET RESTART

There are three crates to check. The system crate and branch crate 1 are in the Clip Centre rack to the right of the 3220. They are in the bottom of the rack and you have to remove the front panels to reach them. Check they have power on by looking for a light on the ON/OFF switch. Next press the toggle switch on the system crate at the right hand end marked C/Z (Clear) once in each direction. You need to do the same with the branch crate (lower crate) but there is a switch above the C/Z switch which must be OFF before you can do the C/Z (Clear). It lifts and pulls. This is a switch which puts the crate on or off-line. You cannot clear the crate until it is off- line. Check that the red light goes out when in the off-line state. Now do C/Z. Return the switch into the ON state. The light should be on.

Go upstairs to the CAMAC crate inside the left hand end of the console. Check that the power is on. If not, put the power on with the white power switch. If it still has not come on then check that the main power switch to the desk (silver handle below the crate ) is on and that all the circuit breakers are up. If these have been off you will probably find that you get the audible warning alarm up from the console. This is loud and monotonous so to shut it up, press the red CANCEL key in the right hand bay of the console. Also press RESET on the timer unit (2nd bay top row). Now do a C/Z to the CAMAC crate as you did to the other branch crate. Remember to put the crate back on-line.
