Experience with schools, training of students
and future prospects
The JKT experience with training of students
The JKT has been incorporating
students on training to the operation of the JKT
since 1998 as support astronomers. At
present they are the only support
astronomers.
They are undergraduate and
graduate students from UK and the Netherlands
universities mainly. They stay on
La Palma for one year and they carry out a
research project under the
supervision of an ING astronomer. ING covers the costs.
This has proved to be very
successful to both the operation of the telescope and
their training.
