Imaging programme for the XMM-Newton
Serendipitous X-ray Sky Survey
PI: Dr Mike Watson
Summary of Programme
We propose multi-colour optical imaging of approximately 200 fields
drawn from the XMM-Newton observing programme in order to provide the
optical data needed to realise the full potential of the XMM-Newton
Serendipitous X-ray Sky Survey. The INT data, combined with the
XMM-Newton X-ray data, will provide an X-ray/ optical catalogue of
~10000 - 20000 sources over 25 sq deg of the sky which will represent
an unequaled resource for a range of front-line areas of
astrophysics.
