The Observatory's residence (called 'residencia' in Spanish) is operated by the IAC. It is expected that you will make your own room and meal bookings previous to your departure to La Palma. Online forms and general information on the use of the residence can be found at the IAC´s residence web pages.

ING can arrange bookings in hotels on La Palma for visiting observers who will be spending some time at sea-level. Please fill in the ING bookings form. Alternatively visiting observers can book directly. See below the descriptions of some available hotels at sea-level. IMPORTANT: La Palma is a holiday destination so please book your accommodation well in advance, especially during peak periods such as Carnival (one week in February), Easter and Christmas when flights are heavily booked, and in July in years ending in 0 or 5 (when the Bajada de La Virgen, a big festival, takes place in Santa Cruz de La Palma). You can get the dates of the La Palma public holidays from the ING schedules (shown in green).

Santa Cruz de La Palma (or just 'Santa Cruz') is the main town on La Palma, and it's where the ING sea-level office is situated. It takes 1 hour to reach Santa Cruz de La Palma from the observatory and 10 minutes from the airport. Los Cancajos is a beach resort between Santa Cruz de La Palma and the airport, and it's only at five minutes from both locations. See this map of La Palma for more information.
