Applying for Service observations
Fill out the application form for the
instrument you want to apply for.
Within an hour or so you will receive an email informing you that your
proposal has passed safely into the scheme, along with its unique
reference code. If your programme does not appear in the
status files, and if you do not receive a
mail message within a day of submitting your proposal please contact
the Service Manager
Once your programme has become active, you can follow its progress
by inspecting the status files.
The ULTRACAM form is the prototype of the new Service forms. If you encounter any unexpected behaviour, please inform the Service Manager.
INT
The INT Service programme was discontinued on July 31, 2003
JKT
The JKT Service programme was discontinued on July 31, 2002
If your programme needs a finder chart, please make things easy for us:
- write reference code and PI of programme on all pages
- mark object(s) of interest
- mark scale and orientation
- give passband and magnitude limit
- send in your finder chart well before your application becomes active
The best and secure/fast way to send in your finder chart is
- by providing the Service Manager with a URL for your finder chart by email
Targets of Opportunity
In the case of
genuine targets of opportunity a service form
should be submitted and the Service Manager should be contacted by email [
service@ing.iac.es ].
Please tick the Target_of_Opportunity box on the service form.
For the most urgent cases (eg a galactic supernova discovered that day!) the Service
Manager will arrange for local referees to assess your application.
