Default table names

The command: DEFAULT INPUT_TABLE=input-table-name

(re)defines the default INPUT_TABLE for the next command (using an input table). The default value on entry of ARCQUERY (without RESTORE) is 0, which specifies the Observations Catalogue.

If an ARCQUERY command creates a new (output) table, the output table name can be specified with the command. If OUTPUT_TABLE is not specified explicitly, a default output table name will be generated from the input table name, either explicitly specified or the default name, according to the rules set out in section .

The default value of INPUT_TABLE is updated during an ARCQUERY session to be equal to the last created output table name. It is shown on the user's VDU after the execution a command. Thus, the OUTPUT_TABLE of a command becomes the default INPUT_TABLE for the next.
