Terminate an ARCQUERY session: EXIT (EX)

In order to terminate an ARCQUERY session, type:

EXIT[/qualifier[/qualifier[/

The two qualifiers of interest on the captive account and mailserver are /[NO]SAVE and /[NO]MAIL. On EXIT the following actions are executed:

If any of the above actions fails the /SAVE qualifier is executed automatically, so that the user can later reenter ARCQUERY, restore and try again. If ARCQUERY is terminated in an abnormal fashion, e.g. by time-out, CTRL/C or CTRL/Z, the SAVE qualifier is also forced.

Saving the context on exit allows the user to interrupt an ARCQUERY session and to continue it later, for instance after inspection of a (mailed) listing. The existence of saved files and tables will be recognized when one starts a subsequent query session. The user will then be asked to restore or not the tables and files from the previous session (see section ).

NOTE: remote access to the catalogue.

The additional EXIT command qualifiers /[NO]MASTER_SEND, /[NO]OUTPUT_PUT, /[NO]ALL, /[NO]RETURN_TABLE, /[NO]EDIT, /[NO]TPU and /IDENT=, and also the separate command RETURN_TABLE, are not mentioned here, because they apply only to remote access of the archive via the server from ARCQUERY software installed at the user's site. This mode of access is outside the scope of this User Manual; at the moment such access can only be made from the NFRA site in Dwingeloo (the Netherlands). See the ING User Guide XIX for details.
