Filters

The filters currently available are listed in Table 4. the measured passbands of the broad-band set convolved with chip response curves are shown in Figs 10a and 10b. Detailed specifications of the filters are given in Appendix 9.

There are several filter wheels for use with the JKT CCD camera. The wheels and filters reside inside the Filter Cupboard which is located in the Optics Lab on the second floor of the INT Building. Get technical support or support astronomer help (principal contact R W Argyle) if you wish to change filters. Better still inform R.W.A. of your requirements well in advance of your run and all should be in readiness for you. Do not try to change filters in a wheel without local support.

After the wheel has been loaded use the WHEEL command (see III.5.4) to tell the instrumentation computer what filters are in each position and the corresponding focus shifts.

With the filter wheel in place (and having noted where each filter is located within the wheel) you can select a particular filter by using the FILTER command so;

Adam:> FILTER < name>

As a check:

Adam:> FILTER? (yields verification)

(At present only the filter position number and not the filter name is returned).
