7.1.1. High level engineering terminal command summary ACQUIRE ON/OFF Turns on or off the continuous acquisition mode where the ccd window is repeatedly displayed.

ACQWIND [x1 y1 x2 y2 ] Sets the Acquisition search boundary window to be bounded by the corners (x1,y1) and (x2,y2). the default is the largest window available.

APP-STATUS reports status information on the currently selected application and focal station.

AF2 Alias for AutoFib

AUTOFIB Selects the Autofib autoguider system (using the prime controller). Initialises the CCD controller

AUTOGUIDE [ ON n ] Does a field acquisition and searches for n stars, then starts guiding using the nth star in the starlog. Uses alldefault settings.

CASSEGRAIN Selects the Cassegrain autoguider system using both the Cassegrain software and the Cassegrain CCD. If the CCD controller is not currently connected, then another attempt to connect to it is made.

CASS Alias for CASSEGRAIN.

CCD-STATUS displays information about the current CCD controller, its current setup and link status.

DARK-PATTERNS Averages ten exposures of 0 seconds and 10 seconds to make new dark current frames for subtraction from the CCD images later. Uses the current CCD chip and stores the dark patterns on the Quantum hard disk. This command has to be run for each focal station whenever the chip operating temperature changes, with the front of the CCD blanked off, or under conditions of zero illumination. Do this regularly, every month or two.

ENGINEER Unseal the vocabulary search path to include all of the rest of the forth vocabularies. The search path is restricted to normal commands with the OBSERVER command.

n EXPOSURE Expose the CCD for n mS, read out the full CCD image and display on the screen without any processing.

FIELD [ n ] Does a field acquisition and searches for n stars, adding them to the starlog. the brightest star is selected for guiding with. Defaults to search for one star if no parameters are given.

GUIDE ON [ n ] / OFF Starts or stops outputting tracking errors to the TCS. The parameters ON or OFF must be given. If a number is specified when starting to guide, that star will be selected before starting the loop.

GUILOOPS [ n ] Sets the number of guide loops which are averaged before output to the TCS. Defaults to 1 if no parameters are given.

GUISIZE [ n ] Changes the guide window size to n pixels square. Not available at UES where the windows are fixed. Can be used whether guiding or not.

GUIWIND [ x y ] Centres the tracking window on (x,y). Not available at UES where the windows are fixed.

HELP [ command ] Help on it own prints a menu with the command summaries available. The command list is application dependent.

Help with a command name prints the single page description of the command given. The menu is printed if the command is not recognised.

INIT-DISP Redraws the Autoguider's display screen.

INTERLOCKS Displays the inter task semaphores and the status of the display task.

KILL-TRACK Stops the tracking loop uncleanly but powerfully.

MARK x y Places a cursor at CCD coordinates x,y on the display. Note that the cursor is not overlaid, so will be overwritten by the next image data frame.

MESSAGES Displays the buffer of messages from background tasks

OBSERVER SEals the vocabulary search path down to only the sealed vocabulary. This has the effect that only the standard commands are recognised.

PCENT AutoFib probe centroid command. One fibre is read out n times and the average of n centroids is calculated. The centroid, and statistics are displayed. This can be done whether guiding or not.

PRIME Selects the Prime focus autoguider system using both the Prime focus software and the Prime focus CCD. If the CCD controller is not currently connected, then another attempt to connect to it is made.

RT Displays the Utility network receive table.

RUN-DEVELOPMENT Sets a software switch so that the next time the system is rebooted, the latest version of software is loaded.

RUN-RELEASED Sets a software switch so that the next time the system is rebooted, the previous version of software is loaded.

SELECT SLIT/COARSE/FINE/STAR/PROBE n

SELECT STAR

cass, prime & autofib

selects the star from the starlog to use for guiding.

SELECT FINE/COARSE/SLIT

UES only

This command selects the given fibre only for display and guiding.

SELECT PROBE

Autofib only:

Selects the probe to use with the FIELD command.

0=fixed, 1=mobile.

SETINT [n] Sets the integration time to n mS or the default if no time is given. Limits are 50mS to 50 seconds.

STARLOG Prints the log of stars found during the last FIELD command.

SHUT-DOWN Turns off the Peltier cooler for the current CCD head, thus warming the CCD up to room temperature.

START-UP Turns on the Peltier cooler for the currently selected CCD head and waits fo it to cool down.

STATS Displays ( on the display screen ) statistics of the current guiding session, - seeing, rel. transparency etc.

STEMP n Sets the current CCD temperature

TEMP Displays the Current CCD temperature. ( This is normally updated in memory every 20 seconds. If the system is idle, it is also displayed. )

TIMING Displays tracking loop timing information

TT Displays the Utility network transmit table.

TV ON/OFF Alias for ACQUIRE

UES Selects the UES autoguider system using both the UES software and the UES CCD. If the CCD controller is not currently connected, then another attempt to connect to it is made.

VIEW ON/OFF Alias for ACQUIRE

ZERO-PLOT Centres the pointing errors on the current error. Useful when there is a constant offset in the system, for example at UES when it is desired to guide on one end of the slit.

IDLE Turns off the currently active state ie guiding or cont acq.

.ERRORS Displays the network command and mechanism errors, along with a description of each one.

.FLOW Displays Nitrogen flow measurement information obtained from the current CCD controller.

.ILOCKS Displays the current autoguider state.

+SCALE Doubles the scale of the Y axis of the pointing error display.

+TAU Increases the time scale of the pointing error display.

-SCALE Halves the scale of the Y axis of the pointing error display.

-TAU Decreases the time scale of the pointing error display.

?NET Probes the Utility network for active devices.

?CERR Displays the network command error counts.
