Please record any new quirks of the system below. If they turn out to be long lived then they will be incorporated into the manual.

  1. The telescope is affected by movement on the rising floor. It amounts to a movement of the image of a few arcsecs if the observer jumps up and down. Keep off the rising floor when exposing unless absolutel necessary.
  2. Be sure to get a number allocated for your D tapes, i.e. the tapes that remain here, before taking copy tapes (C) away.
  3. If the air conditioning fails, normally heralded by an ear-piercing warbling noise signal from the CLIP centre, try resetting the A/C unit by 1) switching it off, 2) pressing the reset button, 3) switching on again. If this clears all fault indications everything is well. If not, then contact the duty technician. The computers must not be left running for more than 15 minutes without air-conditioning. If this seems likely to happen follow the instructions in Section 10 on closing down the computers.
