Shutting Down
In order to shut down the telescope and control systems, follow the
procedure detailed below. It is important to follow this procedure strictly
in the order that it is presented. Shutting down is sometimes a good way of
solving any telescope or computer problems that you may be having.
Shutting Down The ICS
On the ICS and in the pink window, type:
SYS>shutdownobssys
Answer "y" to the question asked by the system.
...wait...
At the next prompt type:
SYS>cleanup
Then exit the windows by clicking with the right mouse button on a clear
part of the screen and choosing "Exit" followed by "Exit" at the confirm
exit prompt.
Shutting Down The DAS
On the DAS and in the pink window, type:
jktobs@lpss12>shutdownobssys
...wait...
jktobs@lpss12>cleanup
Then exit the windows by clicking with the right mouse button on a clear
part of the screen and choosing "Exit" followed by "Exit" at the confirm
exit prompt.
Shutting Down The Telescope
All the following is done via the JKT control panel:
- With the telescope in computing mode (turn the key), type "park zen" at
the USER> prompt on the TCS
- Change the telescope to engineering mode (press button)
- Acknowledge the alarm on the TCS by typing "ack" at the USER>
prompt
- Turn off the oil pumps (red button)
- Cancel alarms (little red button labelled "CANCEL")
- Turn off the telescope power (key)
- Cancel alarms (little red button labelled "CANCEL")
Shutting Down The TCS
On the TCS type:
USER>tcsexit
