Seeing Data

The Monitor

Welcome to the Seeing pages

ING provides online seeing measurements throughout the night, thanks to its Robotic Differential Image Motion Monitor (known as RoboDIMM). This monitor took its first data on 18 August 2002, coinciding with the first PATT-scheduled NAOMI run.

The intention is that all information about RoboDIMM and some other topics relevant to Atmospheric Seeing at ING telescopes be made easily available through this page - see the links on the left. Please report errors, omissions or suggestions to the last author, listed at the foot of each page.

In the News section (left) there are links to recent or important development in the monitoring or publishing of seeing information at ING, especially changes in this set of pages.

During the night the latest seeing measurement from RoboDIMM is published live on the ING Weather Station web page. Look in the Seeing Data section for links to seeing or other data relevant to observing (currrent or archived) and for information about how RoboDIMM data is obtained and calibrated.

The Monitor section links to details on the hardware, software and operation of the RoboDIMM seeing monitor and also to information on the previous ING DIMM and the HAP investigations into image quality carried out in preparation for adaptive optics on the WHT.
