New Projects

Red Sensitive CCDs

A project to obtain Deep Depletion CCDs from the University of Hawaii consortium. Should improve the red sensitivity of the ISIS spectrograph by a factor of 2-3 whilst eliminating fringing.

UltraDAS

A project to improve the readout speed of our large format science detectors using SDSU controllers. The speed improvements have been considerable : a TEK1024 CCD can now be read out in 22s with 6e noise, an EEV4280 in 37s with 4 e noise.
This is now complete.

CCD Quality Control

A project to improve the characterisation of the ING science detectors through the use of automatic scripts. A light source for more accurate linearity measurement has been constructed and commissioned as has a multi-spectral source for Quantum Efficiency measurement.

NAOMI WFS Upgrades

The NAOMI WFS is planned to be upgraded using L3 CCD technology.

Autoguider Upgrades

Autoguiders are being updated to new ING designed heads that use SDSU controllers and uDAS. This is largely complete.
