Introduction
This page is part of the ING document INS-DAS-31
Design
notes for UltraDAS
1.1 Purpose of this document
The internal construction of the programme udas_camera is described.
The text will be of use to engineers planning to enhance or repair this
programme. Engineers who need to minister to the system as a whole will
get more benefit from document INS-DAS-23 Architecture for UltraDAS.
Observers and other end-users are not advised to read this document.
1.2 Scope of the software
Udas_camera is the camera-server programme of UltraDAS; it is the
software-component of the DAS sub-system. One copy of udas_camera runs
continually in the DAS for each active camera in the system.
The principal duties of udas_camera are:
-
to programme and monitor the SDSU detector-controllers;
-
to allow client programmes to command the SDSU detector-controllers;
-
to capture and store pixels read out from the SDSU controllers;
-
to assemble and combine pixels after readout;
-
to store pixels and associated telemetry in FITS files;
-
to forward telemetry to the CIA.
